-Sam Kliger, Director Russian Jewish Community Affairs, The American Jewish Committee, New-York, USA

“Alexei Dymov’s portraits of famous Russians, Canadians, and Jews are as he puts it “a visual language to help familiarize North American with my heritage.” Dymov memorializes heroic personalities, merging the lowly art of caricature with the high art of idealization. The individual physiognomy of each person-Kandinsky, Tchaikovsky, Freud, the Russian chess player-is captured in the outlines of the skull, the inner structure of the face, and the expressive hands. The attributes of these people are emphasized by the props and settings that define who they are. In this typology of famous people, creativity and intellectuality are often charged with a gentle humor that endears us to them.” /Russian Jewish Contribution in Art, Literature and Science/
-Dr. Loren Lerner, Department of Art History, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada

"After viewing Alexei Dymov´s work, I find it shows contrasts and a great insightful knowledge of the people who make Dawson College work. His black and white drawings are sure entertainment; sometimes hilarious, witty and provocative - all necessary ingredients to showcase Dawson as an effective but fund place to learn.

I think this type of advertising is different and will go a long way in your advertising campaigns. It could be used for our Open House as well as a promotional mailer to schools in order to give our future artists an insight into what we´re about. Also, the originals could be used in a ´wall of fame´. There is no end to what could be done as the drawings increase; they could be used in newspaper ads, etc.

I have taken great pleasure in directing Alexei Dymov in his three years in our illustration & Design Program.

After receiving a beautiful rendering of myself from Alexei Dymov, which combines his usual wit with technical expertise, I heartily support his work.

Those who are lucky enough to receive one of his works will not be disappointed."
-Sincerely, Stan Roach

"Dear Alexei, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful characticure you did of me for the Dawson 25th anniversary dinner. I was flattered by your distillation of my persona. It is seldom that we get to hold a mirror to ourselves that shows us anything but what we expect to see. You have given me an opportunity to see beyond that. Thanks again and keep up the good work."
